The Volvo Group has announced plans to expand its North American manufacturing presence with a new heavy-duty truck plant in Mexico. This strategic move aims to increase production capacity and support the growth of Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in key markets.

Boosting Production for Continued Growth

Scheduled to open in 2026, the new facility will supplement the existing Volvo and Mack truck production plants in the United States – the Mack Lehigh Valley Operations (LVO) in Pennsylvania and the Volvo New River Valley (NRV) plant in Virginia. These existing plants will remain the company's primary North American heavy-duty truck production sites, with ongoing investments to ensure their competitiveness.

Focus on Efficiency and Flexibility

Spanning roughly 1.7 million square feet, the new Mexican plant will focus on assembling conventional heavy-duty vehicles for both Volvo and Mack brands. This includes complete vehicle assembly, from cab body construction to painting. The strategic location in Mexico will offer logistical advantages for delivering trucks to customers in the southwestern and western regions of the U.S., as well as Mexico and Latin America. Additionally, Mexico's established supply chain and production infrastructure will complement the existing U.S. system, enhancing the overall resilience and flexibility of Volvo Group's North American operations.

This expansion highlights Volvo Group's commitment to meeting the growing demand for its heavy-duty trucks in North America and beyond. The new plant will play a crucial role in supporting the company's continued success in the region.
