Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in scientific services, announced in a press release that it will expand its presence in Indonesia by opening its first official office in Jakarta. Scheduled for April 2024, this move signifies a significant milestone as the company shifts from its current representative office to a larger workspace.

Sho-Wen Yeo, Vice President and General Manager of Southeast Asia & Taiwan for Thermo Fisher Scientific, emphasized the company's commitment to advancing Indonesia's science and technology sector, particularly in healthcare, clean energy, biopharma, and food safety.

Over the past year, Thermo Fisher has strengthened its Indonesian presence, establishing a legal entity to bolster customer relations and deepen engagements with local stakeholders. The new office in Jakarta aims to foster local talent and support scientific progress within the community. Devi Darmadi has been appointed as the country's General Manager to lead growth initiatives and expand Thermo Fisher's footprint in Indonesia.

Thermo Fisher has also partnered with the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) to enhance research infrastructure and capabilities in the country, supporting BRIN's objective of advancing Indonesian researchers. Additionally, Thermo Fisher organized scientific forums in Jakarta on February 24, facilitating discussions on healthcare transformation and lab solutions. These sessions showcased Thermo Fisher's comprehensive solutions in various areas, including molecular diagnostics, oncology, and sample storage.

Yeo expressed optimism about Indonesia's plans to transition to renewable energy and strengthen research infrastructure, highlighting Thermo Fisher's commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships and enabling customers to contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and safer world.
