Linde Expands Green Hydrogen Production in Brazil with New Electrolyzer Plant
Linde (Nasdaq: LIN) has announced an expansion in Brazil's renewable energy sector with its subsidiary White Martins set to build and operate a new green hydrogen production facility. This second electrolyzer, a five-megawatt pressurized alkaline plant, will be strategically located next to White Martins’ existing air separation facility in Jacareí, São Paulo.
This new plant will harness renewable energy sourced from local solar and wind projects, producing green hydrogen that is independently certified. It marks a significant step forward in the region's energy transition efforts, aligning with sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions.
The facility is poised to become operational in 2025 and will primarily supply green hydrogen to Cebrace, a leading glass manufacturer in Jacareí. This initiative is aimed at reducing emissions from Cebrace's glass melting furnaces, thereby contributing to the company’s decarbonization goals. Additionally, the plant will cater to the growing demand for competitive green hydrogen from various industrial sectors such as metals, food, and chemicals.
White Martins, recognized as the pioneer in producing green hydrogen on an industrial scale with international certification in South America, continues to lead the way in renewable energy solutions. The company's first such facility was established in Pernambuco in 2022.
