The BMW Group and NTT DATA Romania have inked a deal to establish a Joint Venture (JV) in Romania, signaling BMW's commitment to enhancing its global IT network and tapping into local software talent. The agreement, subject to regulatory approval, leverages NTT DATA's expertise in agile software development and strong connections within the Romanian IT community.

The JV, based in Cluj-Napoca, aims to bolster BMW Group IT in Europe, driving IT projects and innovations across various domains, including production, development, human resources, sales, and BMW Financial Services.

Alexander Buresch, CIO and Senior Vice President of BMW Group IT, emphasized the importance of partnerships like NTT DATA in addressing the shortage of IT experts. Maria Metz, CEO at NTT DATA Romania, expressed pride in collaborating with BMW Group to lead the digital transformation.

With plans to employ approximately 250 software developers by the end of 2024 and expand to a four-digit workforce by 2027, the JV is poised for substantial growth in the vibrant tech ecosystem of Cluj-Napoca. This venture marks the next significant milestone in the longstanding partnership between BMW Group and NTT DATA, spanning over three decades.
